истЗемли на крайнем северо-западе современного штата Оклахома, которые в настоящее время известны как Панхэндл Оклахомы [ Oklahoma Panhandle; panhandle]. Ныне здесь создан округ Симаррон [Cimmarron County] (площадь 4471 кв. км) - единственный округ [ county] в США, имеющий границы с четырьмя штатами: Канзасом, Колорадо, Нью-Мексико и Техасом. Территория заселена в начале XIX в., в том числе скваттерами [ squatters]. В 1887 представители поселенцев, в том числе владельцы крупных ранчо [ ranch], собравшись в городке Бивер [Beaver], решили создать самостоятельную территорию [ Territory], чтобы защитить свои права на землю. Идея не нашла поддержку в Конгрессе США [ Congress, U.S.], в итоге эти земли вошли в состав Территории Оклахома [Oklahoma Territory] (1890).
